'Simmer Down' Calming Botanical Serum, 30ml

On my third refill and I love this serum. The smell is very earthy and natural, the texture is light and absorbs really easily. I use this and mild mannered every morning and my skin has been breaking out less frequently and less severely and overall feels so much more balanced.

I originally bought this to use as a daytime oil; it didn’t exactly go according to plan as I discovered I prefer using a lotion in the am instead. However!! I am so pleased to have this oil on hand because it is an absolutely potent magic potion that has helped me so many times. I was completely blown away after using it on a whim on post epilation strawberry skin on my legs and it calmed the redness down overnight (if that doesn’t sound impressive, it should, because usually my recovery time is about a week, during which time I ask myself why I keep doing it, then promptly forget). I have since used it on any redness, bumps, rashes, insect bites, you name it - the anti inflammatory properties of this oil are ridiculously effective on my skin. So I will keep it stocked up as a fabulous medicinal ointment. I also just open the bottle to sniff it sometimes because I love the earthy, unique smell. I don’t detect the tomato or eucalyptus strongly but instead, what I’m assuming is the chaulmoogra. I’d never heard of it before so after some reading, was absolutely fascinated by its history, and would encourage at least a read of the Wikipedia entry for Alice Ball, a 23 year old African American scientist who first used chaulmoogric acid as an injectable treatment for leprosy.

As with some other Neighbourhood oils I’ve tried, this one is also such a special and effective formulation, which is a rarity these days. On top of that, the design is absolutely stunning. Thank you!

Been using Simmer Down after a pregnancy spotty flare up and I've used it for a week and it's already calming it down.

It's expensive for me but thinks it worth it to support a female led, London local, environmentally conscious company. They also sorted out a refund on an extra delivery when I forgot to basket something.

I purchase this for my daughter, usually at Christmas and birthdays, to replenish her stock, as she uses Simmer Down as part of her daily skincare routine. She swears by it and her skin certainly looks great and blemish free.

I've bought the Simmer Down serum (for some hormonal acne) and Another Year Wiser (for some dry skin lately). Been using both for about two weeks now. It's probably a bit too soon to say anything about great changes of my skin, but so far, it's been lovely using them! Also had some issues with the shipping, and Micaela was so helpful and nice. Love shopping from a small company like this. Would totally recommend!
