Vegan and Cruelty-Free

Neighbourhood Botanicals products are certified Soil Association COSMOS Natural, and vegan certified by The Vegan Society, so you can be sure we mean what we say.

Our products are all VEGAN.

We can confirm that none of our products contain ingredients of animal origin.

A product that is vegan cannot contain any animal ingredients, nor animal-derived ingredients. This includes honey, beeswax, lanolin, collagen, albumen, carmine, cholesterol, gelatin, and many others which can be harder to identify as they are hidden in the raw material production process.

Our products are all CRUELTY-FREE.

We do not test any of our products on animals. Our products are not tested on animals on our behalf by any third party. We do not sell anywhere that requires the testing of products on animals, and we pledge never to do so, no matter the financial gains.

We are currently in the process of getting our whole range officially certified with Soil Association COSMOS Natural and the Vegan Society. The products that are certified already show the badge on the product page, the rest are caught up in the long technical process!

It is unfortunately the case that ingredients that are now used in skincare products would have been tested on animals at some point in the past prior to the ingredient being licensed for use in cosmetic products. You can see all types of plant oils mentioned in scientific studies involving animals.

The European Commission has implemented ban on any cosmetic products that have been tested on animals or contain ingredients that were tested on animals after 11th March 2013. This means that any products that are tested on animals after this date or contain ingredients that were tested on animals after this date are now banned from sale in the EU.

Even though the UK has now left the EU, Neighbourhood Botanicals continues to abide by the EU Regulation (EC) N° 1223/2009 on cosmetic products which is the strictest in the world.

This is both because we believe in doing things properly, and also because the EU accounts for a large part of our market.
