Calming serum for misbehaving skin

Simmer Down Serum is a powerful and potent thin serum formulated to calm and restore balance to your skin. Packed with high-quality potent plant actives, this unique serum effectively keeps bacteria in check while providing cold-pressed botanical nourishment.

Our serum contains unusual herbal and vegetable oils that are raw and cold-pressed oils - extracted without any chemical solvents thus preserving their maximum potency. These herbal staples are renowned for their antibacterial, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties.
The organic aroma is earthy and reminiscent of tomatoes, eucalyptus and moss.

How to: Use 5 drops after your moisturiser. Massage into your face in upwards and outwards motions. Allow the oil to sink in before applying SPF. You may also use this oil instead of moisturiser if you have oily skin, in that case apply after to a damp face after cleansing.

Botanical Standouts

Chaulmoogra has a long-standing reputation in traditional Eastern healing, where it's been used for centuries to address various skin issues. What sets it apart are its unique antimicrobial acids, including chaulmoogric acid, gorlic acid, and the amazing hydnocarpic acid, known for its skin-healing abilities.

Hemp Oil

Hemp is a true multitasker. It soothes inflammation, fights bacteria, and even has anti-fungal properties. It's a fantastic ingredient for troubled skin. Keeps spots at bay and calms redness.

Tomato & Daikon extract

Our zero-waste tomato oil from discarded tomato seeds improves skin smoothness and can help reduce hyper-pigmentation and scarring. Daikon, another zero-waste oil, is rich in vitamin C and has incredible anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

Smooth oil

Lovely oil. Blends well with mild mannered lotion. I use it before bed and skin stays hydrated. Was hoping would help my eczema but hasn’t cleared it.

In love

On my third refill and I love this serum. The smell is very earthy and natural, the texture is light and absorbs really easily. I use this and mild mannered every morning and my skin has been breaking out less frequently and less severely and overall feels so much more balanced.

Literal magic. Or science.

I originally bought this to use as a daytime oil; it didn’t exactly go according to plan as I discovered I prefer using a lotion in the am instead. However!! I am so pleased to have this oil on hand because it is an absolutely potent magic potion that has helped me so many times. I was completely blown away after using it on a whim on post epilation strawberry skin on my legs and it calmed the redness down overnight (if that doesn’t sound impressive, it should, because usually my recovery time is about a week, during which time I ask myself why I keep doing it, then promptly forget). I have since used it on any redness, bumps, rashes, insect bites, you name it - the anti inflammatory properties of this oil are ridiculously effective on my skin. So I will keep it stocked up as a fabulous medicinal ointment. I also just open the bottle to sniff it sometimes because I love the earthy, unique smell. I don’t detect the tomato or eucalyptus strongly but instead, what I’m assuming is the chaulmoogra. I’d never heard of it before so after some reading, was absolutely fascinated by its history, and would encourage at least a read of the Wikipedia entry for Alice Ball, a 23 year old African American scientist who first used chaulmoogric acid as an injectable treatment for leprosy.

As with some other Neighbourhood oils I’ve tried, this one is also such a special and effective formulation, which is a rarity these days. On top of that, the design is absolutely stunning. Thank you!

Thank you!

I love everything I've tried from here. The facial oils (daily glow and dream dream) make my skin very happy.
Been using Simmer Down after a pregnancy spotty flare up and I've used it for a week and it's already calming it down.

It's expensive for me but thinks it worth it to support a female led, London local, environmentally conscious company. They also sorted out a refund on an extra delivery when I forgot to basket something.
